There are 3 types of Lunar Eclipses:
- Total
- Partial
- Penumbral
Lunar Eclipses only occur during the Full Moon phase. A Penumbral Eclipse will appear as a shadow over The Moon, which can appear very subtle.
The Penumbra is the diffused shadow of the Earth cast upon the illuminated Moon. In astrology, this type of eclipse suggests slight changes in cycles or small, hard to find details being illuminated. It is also connected to the Earth and our connection to dark side of our human nature as children of Mother Earth.
Metaphysically, shadows and darkness are indications of the divine feminine or the yin energy, which resides in the left side of every human body and the right side of every human brain. Yin energy is also assigned to half of the zodiac signs such as the Earth & Water signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Houses 1 through 6 are associated with yin energy as well and associated with material life and matters of the physical world.
During the Full Moon Penumbral Eclipse, look at the following in your natal chart:
- Any planet or luminary (Sun or Moon) in Earth & Water Signs
- Planets or luminaries in houses 1 – 6
- Where The Full Moon Penumbral Eclipse falls in your natal chart (see instructions below)
Finding where The Moon falls in your natal chart
- What sign is The Moon in during the transit? The Moon will be in Libra during the Penumbral Eclipse.
- What sign is your Rising Sign or 1st House in?
- Counting the 1st House then moving counterclockwise, how many houses away is the sign Libra?
- This sign and house is where the transit Full Moon is interacting with your chart.
This is a rudimentary way of figuring out how the current transit is affecting your natal chart. Obviously there is more in-depth information that an astrologer can interpret for you regarding this and any transit. Tune into my TikTok channel for a Sun & Rising Sign Horoscope @metzilmazatl
